Accountant Partner Terms
These terms govern the WorkLane Accountant Partner scheme (the "Scheme"). They are issued by Joshua Tyler Development Limited, trading as WorkLane ("we", "us"), 4 Colvreath Road, Newquay, TR7 2PY. "You" means the accountancy or bookkeeping practice that applies to join. A "Referred Client" is a business you introduce to WorkLane under these terms. Read with our Accountant Partners page.
1. Joining
You apply using the form at worklane.co.uk/accountants. We may accept or decline an application. Once we approve you, we give you a partner code and a partner link, and we arrange payout details with you by email. These terms apply from approval.
2. Rewards
- Partner (1 to 4 paying Referred Clients): a one-off bonus of £50 when the Referred Client pays their second month, plus 20% of each subscription payment the Referred Client makes for the first 12 months of their paid subscription.
- Gold Partner (5 or more paying Referred Clients): a one-off bonus of £75 when the Referred Client pays their second month, plus 25% of each payment for the first 12 months of their paid subscription.
- Your tier depends on how many of your Referred Clients are currently paying. Moving up to Gold applies to Referred Clients who sign up after you qualify. Existing Referred Clients keep the bonus, rate and period that applied when they were referred.
- Add-ons (such as the CRM) count if the Referred Client buys them.
3. Commission, discount or split
For each sign-up (or each Referred Client) you choose one of:
- Commission: we pay you the bonus and the percentage in section 2.
- Discount: the Referred Client gets the bonus as credit on their WorkLane account and the same percentage off for 12 months, and you receive nothing.
- Split: we pay you the bonus, and the Referred Client gets the percentage off for 12 months.
Referred Clients get the standard 30-day free trial, plus the free setup and customisation every WorkLane customer gets.
4. What counts as a referral
A referral counts when:
- the client is new to WorkLane, with no existing account or active trial; and
- the client signs up using your partner link or code, or we received a written introduction from you before they signed up.
Your partner link is remembered on the client's device for 90 days. If more than one partner refers the same client, the first partner wins. A referral counts once the Referred Client pays their first month. Commission starts once the client has paid their first full month. The bonus is earned when they pay their second.
5. What does not count
- Your own practice, or businesses owned by your partners or staff.
- Clients who came from paid adverts that use the WorkLane name or brand.
- Clients reached by spam, bought or cold lists, or any marketing that breaks the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
6. Payouts
- We pay monthly by bank transfer on the 15th, for everything earned in the previous month, with a short statement showing each Referred Client and amount.
- No minimum payout, so even a single sole-trader referral is paid the month it's earned.
- Commission is calculated on what the Referred Client actually paid, excluding VAT and after any discounts.
- If you are VAT-registered, you invoice us for the amount on your statement and add VAT. If you are not, we send a statement and pay the net amount.
- If a client is refunded, the matching commission and bonus come off the next payout.
7. Disclosure
You agree to tell each client that you may receive a referral fee from us. Many professional bodies expect commission to be disclosed; you remain responsible for meeting your own professional body's rules.
8. Describing WorkLane
WorkLane is job management software. It is not Making Tax Digital submission software and does not replace accounting software. You agree not to describe it as either.
9. Ending
Either side can end your participation with 30 days' notice by email. Commission already earned on Referred Clients is still paid for its full period, unless you broke these terms.
10. Changes
We may change these terms by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. Changes do not reduce the bonus, rate or period for Referred Clients you introduced before the change takes effect.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
