Logging hours

How staff record time against jobs, and the reminders that stop timesheets going missing.

1 min read

Hours logged against jobs are what turn a day's work into a costed, billable record.

Step by step (staff)

  1. Open the job you worked on.
  2. Log your hours for the day against it.
  3. Repeat per job if you were on more than one — that's what makes job costing accurate.

The reminders

  • If someone hasn't logged hours for the previous working day, WorkLane nudges them the next morning.
  • Managers and admins get a weekly staff-hours summary every Monday morning, so gaps surface within days rather than at month end.

Hours feed job cost. If your margins look wrong on a job, missing hours is the first thing to check.
