Knowledge Base Jobs Step 14 of 28

Schedule and book a job

Set the deadline and effort, book the days, and see how the job sits alongside everything else.

1 min read For company admin, manager

Scheduling in WorkLane works from two numbers: how long the job takes, and how many hours a day you'll put into it.

Step by step

  1. Open the job and find Set the deadline and rough effort.
  2. Set the Deadline — the date you've promised the client.
  3. Set the Effort estimate (hrs) — e.g. 24.
  4. Set Hours per day — e.g. 8. WorkLane works out that the job runs three days and shows you Project runs with the date range.
  5. Under On the schedule, click Edit dates to move the booked days around.
  6. Pick a slot per day — Morning, Afternoon or All day.

If you see "Set a due date to schedule this job", that's the blocker — the deadline is what anchors everything else.

Seeing the whole picture

The Schedule page in the sidebar shows every booked job across your team, so you can spot the day where you've promised four engineers to five jobs.
