Trash: deleting and restoring
Deleted jobs and documents go to Trash for 30 days before they are gone for good.
Deleting in WorkLane is a soft delete. That's a safety net, not a filing system.
Deleting a job
- Open the job and scroll to Danger zone (admins only).
- Move the job to Trash. It's hidden everywhere immediately.
Restoring
- Go to Jobs → Trash (or the View Trash → link in the danger zone).
- Restore the job. It returns exactly as it was, timeline included.
Trashed items are permanently deleted after 30 days. After that they're genuinely gone — there's no recovery. The same 30-day rule applies to documents.
What can't be deleted
Invoiced jobs cannot be deleted. Cancel them instead — the record needs to keep matching the invoice you sent to the client.
Chat videos
Videos posted in chat are removed after 30 days to keep storage sane. The message stays and shows "Video expired". If a video is evidence, attach it to the job rather than leaving it in a chat thread.
